HUGE DOUBLE GATES REQUIRED FOR SEA DEFENCE PROJECT NEAR HULL
Floodsafe worked as installers for Waterfront Fluid Controls, in a scheme for PBS Construction
In 2018, at the Paull Sea Defence near Hull, we were asked to work alongside PBS Construction as installers for the manufacturer, Waterfront Fluid Controls. The works were required to raise the height of the current boatyard and sea wall to tie in with new flood defences upstream. PBS had constructed the new sea wall and some glass wall systems at the village of Paull, East of Hull and required the installation of mitered gates to complete the project.
Floodsafe Projects installed the large 6.5m span by 2.3m high, mitered gates on behalf of Waterfront Fluid Controls. The flood gate was the final piece in the sea wall construction. The images show the construction and on this design, the end-posts were installed prior to the wall section being cast. They were then tied into the concrete structure as construction continued. The gates were then hung at a later stage when all the other works were complete.
The result was a secure flood defence system for the houses and businesses along the sea front, suitably designed with the new sea wall and glass wall system.
