STOPPING THE WATER AT THE FACTORY DOOR
Protecting a stock of fabric at Standfast and Barracks
Standfast and Barracks Lancaster, produce a huge range of fabrics for some of the country’s leading designers. In 2015, the factory was flooded following the aftermath of Storm Desmond. It brought damage to the company’s printing equipment as well as their stock. The Standfast & Barracks factory is sited on the River Lune and had also been flooded in 1994. Floodsafe Projects were sub-contracted by UKFDA, (The UK Flood Defence Alliance), to provide the installation element of the doorway protection. This was part of a larger flood protection contract. All products were procured by UKFDA whilst Floodsafe carried out all on-site management and installation works.

A combination of different schemes at the factory has produced a robust flood defence system, providing the company with a high degree of confidence and ultimately full business continuity following a future flooding event.
